Chana Dal Fry


You will need
1 cup of Chana Dal soaked in 4 cups of water for 2-3 hours |
3 cups of water |
1/4 tsp of red chilli powder |
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder |
1/4 tsp of cumin powder |
1/4 tsp of coriander powder |
1 tsp of sugar |
1 tbsp of tamarind pulp |
1 tbsp of vegetable oil |
1/4 tsp of mustard seeds |
1 clove of finely chopped garlic |
Tata salt to taste |
Let's get cooking!

Drain the soaked Chana Dal. |

Set aside. |

Take a deep vessel, add water, some salt and soaked Chana Dal. |

Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. |

Add red chilli, turmeric, cumin and coriander powders, sugar and tamarind pulp. Stir. |

Allow to simmer uncovered for some time. |

In a separate pan, heat the vegetable oil on low flame. |

When it begins to smoke, add the mustard seeds and chopped garlic to it. |

Add this to the simmering pot of dal. |

Cook the dal for another 5 minutes. |
